The three amigos
Need I say anything?
So While we were in Rexburg we stayed with Jo and Shane, and while we were there Trisha and Jason and their family came to play too. It was so much fun. Sunday after church and after I took the girls to the park and broke Whitney's arm ( I didn't actually break it but she fell from the monkey bars and broke her wrist in two places, And I felt so so bad.) We went out to Shanes dad's place. It is a veritable playground literally. We all tricd the zip line.....
Maddi was one of the first. I was not so graceful and almost fell off trying to get off the start and then fell off at the end when my watch caught on the bar. Just call me grace!
The kids had a blast in the train that Uncle Shane pulled with the quad. He went really fast!
The cars were made from water barrels, and painted so cute. Fun Fun Fun!
Molly and Kait
Aunt Jo and Whitney reste on the swing. We thought Jo might pop at any moment, but she waited till the day after we left for little Lydia to make her entrance.
We took Trisha and Jason to the sand dunes. They had never seen them and were amazed. It is crazy that you drive through farmers fields and then just come upon these huge sand dunes. The kids and dads had a blast leaping off the top.
The next day we went to Porter park where all the kids played in the spray park and rode on the carousel. Who could ask for more fun.
Maddi and Molly.
Kaitlin and Whitney. Look she's still smiling at her aunt Tricia.
Brandon and AJ took Libby and Finn on the horsies. They loved it.
Matt, Johnna, and little Taylor.
The park was fun but the water was FREEZING!!!
I don't think the kids minded the cold though
After a while at the park we decided to go out to Egin lake to play in the sand there. Trisha and Jason had never been there. So we loaded into the cars and headed the 10 min out of Rexburg to the sand dunes again.
The sand was so HOT that it burned like crazy. AJ was a sweety and gave Grandma his shoes to walk in while he continued barefoot. Let me tell you that was sweet of him. We were all dragging the tent and table and food and kids and we were all burning our feet. Doesn't Grandma look cute in the skate shoes.
Everyone headed out to walk across the lake which never gets higher than your waist and has a complete sandy bottom because it is just part of the dunes. The crazy thing is that when we last went out there the lake was almost completely dried up and now it begins really close to the roadway.
Aj was the sand castle builder. Brandon caught a salamander which ended up coming back to Canada with us.
Finn loved the sand. who cared if it was a little hot
Everyone had a blast just hanging out and playing in the sand. Kayeli had never even been there even though they live in Rexburg. It is one of our favorite places to go.
We headed up to Jackson hole to explore and have some fun with just our kids. We first tried out the alpine slide.
We all rode the chair lift up the mountain side.
Kait was my partner
The slide coming down the mountainside.
The sleds that you ride down on are hanging on
the sides of the chairlifts that are empty of passengers
The funny thing was that Maddi and I went first. I flew done the slide and Maddi took the slow approach. Unfortunately Brandon was right behing Maddi and so he practically crawled down the mountain. There is spot on the slide where it says" do not stop" He informed me that there was no choice because maddi wasn't moving. When she came down she had a whole line up behind her. Kaitlin was third in that line.
Needless to say we felt bad and let Brandon and AJ go
again so they could have the real experience. Better the second go round.
We had fun exploring Jackson Hole. We stayed at the painted buffalo hotel and could just walk down to town square and all the shops. It started pouring for a little while. Of course that was the moment Kaitlin just had to go to the bathroom which was 2 1/2 blocks down. We stopped at the ice cream shop on the way back while Jeff and the other kids waited on the other side of the street.
The rain didn't last long and the ice cream was scrumdillyitious.
Kaitling was waiting for the shoot out to start.
It was lots of fun and really noisy with all the guns going off.
We explored the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum.
That horse is made up of buttons bottlecaps and odds and end.
We didn't ride the stage coach but it was fun to see.
What I don't have pictures of is our white water rafting trip.
We had so much fun and everyone from Kaitlin on up loved it. I wish we had some video because there were some funny moments. After the trip we decided that on the way home we would try the Bar J wranglers. They have a big barbeque and show and feed 750 people a night.
Of course when we got there without reservations they looked at us like we were crazy (Not really but they probably thought it.) We got tickets and sat outside to eat at the picnic tables. While we waited for dinner to start we had biscuits and honey made over the fire.
We explored the property and wildlife(real moose or not?)
Brandon had a little pow wow with the Chief.
We actually lucked out because by sitting outside we were served first. and then they brought in folding chairs for us to sit on for the show and they were a lot more comfortable than just sitting at the backless tables. The show was amazing and funny. They performed a lot of old cowboy songs and told a lot of funny stories. Even the teenage boys loved it. IT will be a great memory for all of us
When we got back to Rexburg from Jackson Hole the other cousins had returned from there trip to fish lake with the Wilson relatives so we had to go back to Egin lake so Brandon and Aj could enjoy it with the cousins. All the boys rode in our car
They had a great game of smear the queer.
Football
Red ants....lots of them.
The last event of the day. Who can hold their breath the longest?
We had a great time in Rexburg. It was fun to be with both sides of our family and just have time visiting and shoping a little. Going to a movie and having BBQ's
When we got home we spent the rest of the summer swimming and just enjoying the summer.
