The Last 20 Days

So I have so many things to blog about and no time with which to sit down and Blog. It is 2:51 in the morning and I  cannot sleep. It could be that my oldest son is coming home from his mission in less than 2 days and I have a kitchen that is still torn apart with no counters on yet and his bedroom is almost ready (at least he has a bed he can sleep in) but is not 100% yet. Could it be that I am running out of time in those 20 days I gave myself to give the kitchen a facelift and have the house all neat and tidy? Oh well, I am telling myself not to worry. It will get done. Yes it will!!! I'll finish up the cupboard doors tomorrow (THEY TURNED OUT FABULOUS) and get them all put on. Then I have to take a break and go listen to Kaitlin play the piano at the elementary assembly at 10:15 am. Then I'll finish up all the touch ups, get the kitchen stuff out of my living room and back in the drawers. Hopefully I can get some laundry done in between somewhere and finish the bedroom. We'll then fit in piano lessons and a young women's board meeting while Jeff can hopefully get most of the new counter top put on. He has been a big help. I promise as soon as Dustin gets home and everything is is place I will post the before and after pictures. I will just say that I absolutely love how the cupboards have turned out and all the sanding, Painting, sanding again and staining have almost been worth it.

The most AWSOME home teachers!

OK we have pretty awsome home teachers all on their own. Some of the best ever. But this months visit will never be forgotten. Brother Ray Smith brought over a Segway from his work at the grain elevator. This was a hit. Brother Hodder also brought the Kinder Eggs for a treat and that is Kaitlin's favorite. He always brings a treat for the kids and they love him for it. But above all the segway ride will probably not be topped. Everyone got a chance to try it out. The kids definitely ruled the ride. They just jumped on and away they went. I wobbled back and forth quite a bit before I got my balance and then it is pretty easy. Jeff did a great job too. Now all we hear is "Hey ,We need a segway" Ya and we also need to win the lottery too.
Getting the hang of it

Mall cop look out!

I don't know how Maddi saw with all that hair in her face
All Kaitlin did was giggle and try to run us down

Choir at the Kiwanas Festival

Maddi and Kaitlin both performed with the Jr. and Senior elementary choirs at the Kiwanas music fesitval this year. I was Forced, had the privilage, of riding on the bus with their choir director Kaleigh Nelson as we took the kids into Lethbridge. That was a NOISY affair. They did great once they got there and sat very quietly while other choirs performed. Both Jr. and Senior choirs performed three numbers and they did a fantastic job. Lots of parents and grandparents were there to watch and the Judge awarded them both an excellent standing.

Fun in Pismo

March started off beautifully. The weather was gorgeous and not windy. I guess you would say it definitely came in like a lamb this year. I also started off the month by getting to visit my best friend back in Madera. We had a great 4 days. We drove over to the coast and stayed in Pismo beach well actually Shell beach at a hotel on the beach. I was hoping for hot weather but it actually felt chillier there than in Canada, especially with the wind blowing off the ocean. We explored the pier and the shops and then we headed off down the coast to a little town called Solvang. It was founded by the Dutch and the buildings were remenicient of Denmark. There were even windmills. We visited authentic Danish bakeries and of course had to try the pastries, and the we went to a little smorgasborg and tried the ebleskivers. YUM! They are little round pancakes served with warm raspberry jam. If I hadn't already had the pastries I would have eaten a whole bunch of them.

We also went horseback riding on the beach. It was a lot of fun, very windy when we got right down on the beach. I couldn't get any pictures of us looking fabulous on our horses because my camera died just after I took a picture of the buildings. Some of the other rider in our group were from Las Vegas and took some shots they said they would email. We just had a great time going to eat, shopping and just visiting. Trina and I both have wonderful husbands who make it possible for us to get together each year and we love them a lot.
